Description
When we see naked columns, juat standing there in emptiness, the natural thought is to wonder what happened to the roof? Are these remains of some ruined splender?
Pillars are supports... but what if they are something more? If the ceiling is the vast dome of the heavens (the very word "ceil" means sky), then such an array is more than an architectural instance or fashionable expression. We respect pillars of the community or reflect upon pillars of a belief system... but aren't those metaphors?
This is part of the entrance to the Darioush Winery in northern California... far, far, from the Persian deserts... but it is a big sky.
I do wonder though, why bulls, and why with severed horns? A column, which could also be seen as emphatically masculine, is thus rendered Impotent?

He he, thought-provoking... When we see parts of a construction we like to see the entire structure. I guess we need to imagine here what has been in earlier days! Wonderful work!
