Description

It wasn't supposed to rain on Sunday. So... Some friends and I set out for a little "hike", mind you this is after a late "breakfast" and a nice pint of Guiness. We head over to the trail called "Breakneck". I don't know... Maybe the name shoul've tipped me off or maybe the fact that I ALREADY "hiked" this trail a few years back could've reminded me that this was not a trail but more like free climbing a cliff! There we are amidst the craggy rocks, pulling our entire weight up with three fingers gripping tight to half inch cracks in the rock wall and it begins to rain. Not alot of rain, but just enough to start making the rocks slick. It got scarey... Even more frightening if we dared look down. There was now way to go back down except for taking the path that awaits us at the top. People started slipping and sliding. Rocks started falling and many cuts, scrapes, bruises and contusions were aquired by these fearless climbers. We ALL did make it safely to the top. Gazing at the lack of veiw (did I mention we wen't for the foliage too?) thanks to the rain and fog we happened across two grave markers for people who were less fortunate in their climb. Made me think... I must be FRIKKIN crazy! After we all made it back down to the bottom we limped back to the rented van, wen't to a local "Meeting Place" and had a few more pints of Guiness and a good laught. At which point the sun came out and it was a beautiful day! Thanks for all the fun comments on the "Librarian" pic. I put one up there myself today. PLEASE please please... GIVE ME CONSTRUCTIVE CRITISIZM on this one. I wan't to make my nature work cooler. Thanx AG

Not sure how much cooler it could be. Seems you got the right choice of POV of where you had been.I like that little structure up there in this too.Just have to watch the aperture when the sky is so bright and hazy.Bit of contrast and darker shadows in PS can adjust certain elements.Makes leaves stand out a bit more. Just watch sharpening with these. It plays havoc on the foliage.Remember that some forested areas can just look like salad on the monitor, thought they looked cool in the viewfinder.

climb that? no, i think not.. from the story a shot of the fingers clutching slick rock, boots gritting in.. give a feel for the climb.. really.. honestly this doesn't do a whole lot for me.. but could someone else ;]

Not my piece of rock to climb either... Safety above all, it's great to have a certainty to tell stores where you've been but fortunately you made it in one piece! Not easy to improve this, Doug mentioned it all! Impressive work!

Difficult shot without the light......... you've done a good job considering it looks extremely overcast........ You could add something to the nearfield to give the photo more depth when the sky is not going to be any help with light and shadow.....

I like the lighting contrast from bright at the top, to the darker bottom...and it's always good to have a few pints of Guiness! Cheers.

I like to take at least two shots of the same image (with different settings) for my scenics and put them together in photoshop. This way the sky is never burnt out and the land isn't too dark.
