Description

The stream of clouds forced to ascend the northern Alps is vaulting over the mountains into the valleys and dissolving there. I was fascinated by the form of the clouds, like snow-covered mountains, sharply distinguished against the blue sky. Imagine these clouds constantly streaming from the right to the left (where they dissolve in thin air). Those lenticularis are one of the most impressive clouds after the cu-nimbs. From a long distance, we could say that they don't move at all but they are always the sign of a very strong wind, especially when they don't cover the top of a mountain but just stay in the middle of the sky! I've had the possibility to approach one of them very closely. That was at the top of Mao Mountain, in Reunion island. Believe me, walking with the wind there was, that day, was something extremely hard and we had to give up before the top. But we've been close enough to be able to see the stream of the lenticularis infinitely moving, going up and down, vaulting and dissolving, as you say... This was really spectacular and impressive, I'll never forget that walk... About paragliding, when we saw them in the air or at the top of the mountains, we know that we'd rather go and drink beers! Cheers...

A very cool image of these interesting clouds streeming over the mountains and shows how conditions on one side of the mountain favor clouds and the other side the conditions don't. Excellent!!!!
