Description

The priests were desperate, with the rise of King Charles, their way of life was in jeopardy. King Charles was a Christian convert, and had no tolerance for the old ways. So the priests decided to take drastic measures, and began the complicated rituals needed to summon a pagan king back from the dead. They truly believed that the long dead king, whom once was their fiercest champion, would again come to their aide and rid them of this usurper. They were wrong! The pagan king did not wish to be brought back to the world of flesh, and his rage was terrible to behold. Several peasants claimed that night was filled with the horrific screams of the doomed priests. After reading 2Loose2Trek's comment, it was clear to me, I had to add the story, that came to mind as I created this image/animation. "The Summoning (Animation)" Sorry Pascale! I'm in a Halloween/horror mood! Almost Friday! ; )

I liked the ani but this is awesome as a still and the story makes it all the more so; I still love those shadowy monks...they complete the whole image and give it the 'spooky' atmosphere.

Wonderful image ... it gives truth to the old adage that one should let sleeping dogs (erm ... or is that gods) lie. I love the way this story developed. I'm glad that my offhanded comment helped spark this excellent piece. V

oh....like a story told before a campfire...the night sounds become louder, and the movement just beyond the edge of darkness seem to be banished only by keeping a light on....! great job

For some secrets should always remain secret. For the old code sometimes forgets to leave a do-not disturb sign for the curious of mind...Wonderful work in a spooky way...Bravo!!!...:))

Nice! I can't decide if I like it better still or animated. But I love the storyline!! And I wouldn't want to be yanked back from the dead to serve them, either. It's plain rude. ;-) V

First class. I prefer this one to the animated version; it has more atmosphere IMO.
