Your HDRI and Ambient occlusion techniques are great, which yields very natural and realistic images. The subject, however, leaves much to be desired ... :)

A little too clean. The ashtray could be smoother.

The light is realistic and the textures are great. WHat's HDRI-rendering? I'm using Cinema 4D 7, so I don't have that feature. I'm very curious.

love the concept! if you made the ash tray more round eg smoother and put about 10% reflection on the ash tray material then the hdri lighting will take full effect
