Bamboo garden... Sitting on the edge of bamboo pool, I can clearly see my reflection. A drop falls from nowhere scatter my image, after a short pause my reflection is back again. Was I really gone or was it only my conscious going trough transformation. I am still there my image too, just the memory of being transformed remains. ...Chinese poem... I like this alot

Surface thank you for your comment. However, there was no alpha plane used in this image at all, the entire scene was enclosed in a box and the box was textured in the water material. Hence the reflections from the different elements. In our VChallenges the whole idea is to render without postwork to expand our knowledge and increase our skill. But I do appreciate your comment, and your thoughts on the image :)

The Vue d'Esprit road-sign you used is made with a plane and an opacity map. As the black part of the opacity map corresponds to the alpha channel of the diffuse color map,it is called an alpha-plane. Probably because of your backlighting or to your atmosphere, the outer part of the plane on the upper sign is not transparent. So we clearly see a gray rectangle around the sign, wich betrays the presence of the a-plane. If you can't use postwork, then you might have to modelise a "real" road-sign by yourself, by extruding a bezier spline in whatever 3d modeler is available, but that should not be too much of a problem. Otherwise, if you really want to stick to the a-plane technique, you might have to change your lighting, but that would be a pity because it's very good. It might also be possible to find pre-made roadsigns on the web, that are not made with an a-plane but really with a 3d mesh. I hope this will help you to improve this great image. Sincerely.

This is a wonderful image. The colors are so peaceful. The perspective throws that peace off just enough to make the whole scene extremely interesting. Great Job!!
