Description

I wasn't entirely sure what to do with this. I suppose that it might belong in the writer's gallery instead, except that the Poser 4 rendered image actually took longer to assemble, despite being another comic-book quality rendering, than the story text, referred to below, took to write. An imbalance that I may have to correct if I really want to get on with this project in a more coherent fashion. Being too long for posting here, I've set it up on a home page. Now, to summarise the story: The continuing, albeit slowly developing, saga of the Lady Annwn... a somewhere-otherworldly altruistic ( and somewhat naively idealistic ) scientist, and inventor of the QLR... the Quantum Lifeforce Resonator; basically ( in pure technobabble-speak ), a device capable of putting the rhythms of a subject's DNA molecules into sync with the overall unified lifestate-energies of whatever planet he, she, or it might happen to be living on. And by mean of which, thus provides them with rapid regenerative healing from whatever ills or injuries with which they might have been inflicted. One small problem though: Annwn wanted her creation to be given to the benefit all of humanoid-kind, so as to free them forever from the chains of pain and infirmity. Her government, on the otherhand... would seek to control it for their own purposes... and the building of an invincible army. The usual problem. And it's the tragedy of scientists that they always make the same mistake. Go figure. But first, she had to use her creation, and the power of an ancient relic, to save her world from annihilation by an invading force. A more detailed text of the story that relates to the image above can be found at: Drakan : RATH - The Story of Lady Annwn And an image of another character from this story can be found here on Renderosity at: Renderosity contest entry

As usual, a few more comments via the feedback system. The ship, here, is still basically a tiny bit of concept-art... a battle-ready starship idea that I wanted ( eventually... ) to look like what you might end up with if a race of crustaceans ( hermit crabs, I suppose ) had built the Enterprise... modeled in trueSpace 5.2 and 6.6 ( whichever version happens to be in a better mood on any given day ) as a sort of structural cross between a horseshoe crab, a human spinal column, and a laser-heat packing mechanical spider. Obviously I've still got a ways to go with the detailing, and the poly-count in general. Nevermind the textures... I'll get around to improving upon those eventually... hopefully. Other current render credits include: Victoria 2, ponytail, and SciFi/Adventurer's outfit courtesy of DAZ ( thank god for their sales, giveaways and other freebies! ). As already stated... rendered in Poser 4 ( hey! I'd still be using version 3 if 4 hadn't been on sale ) and my own models created in trueSpace. Laser beams by Eyecandy V.3, the version that they were giving away free in the magazines awhile back. Flash, bang, and Tesla Tower sparks by particleIllusion SE.... the free version they were giving away in the magazines awhile back. Background landscape from Vue d'Esprit 3, the version that... well... you get the idea. Atmospheric effects by... wait a minute! Nevermind! And a lot of jiggery-pokery back-and-forth between these and Photo-Paint 9 ( or was it PSP 7? ). Ack! I think I wore out more than a few pixels in the process ( and it's still too dark in spots )! Handy boulders with nice and bouldery textures courtesy of Blacksmith 3D! Thanks, guys!
