I can't remember where I found the tut for creating things like this but its very simple to do. Create and arrange your objects, place them in a large, elongated sphere, throw in a light source and Shazam! You have a render. Just play around with it a bit. Email me if you want and I'll look for the file... It's around here somewhere...

Although it seems easy to create maybe, you have to have an eye for shapes and colours. Very fine work here!
