I'm not sure what it is, other than a fractal made solid. Apophysis for the flame and PhotoPaint for the postwork.

This is a really neat effect. It looks very round, as if you are looking down at a real bowl that looks like this. Well done, I'm impressed you got this out of Apo! Neat lighting too!
