Description
You may be wondering why I Titled
this " What Not To Do...." LOL.
Well, there is a story to this
photograph. I decided to upload
something different. So, I thought
I would upload a Photograph. Well,
when I went to find the one I wanted
to put on here, I couldnt find the
original file or any file for that
matter. lol. So, I found a really
lousy test print of this one instead
(again havent a clue where the good
file is)...then I scanned it into a
computer with a bad video card ( gets
16 bits color. ha ha ).Then I took it
off that computer and put it on here.
It certainly went through some changes
in all this process. So the moral of
the story is :
" Don't be a ditz such as I am OR suffer
the Consequences. lol."

Excellent Barb, beautiful story and photo!!!!
Mikan
ha, ha...good lesson! :)) but a cross is a little extreme for any lesson since you cannot think of something else than other world and I guess your lesson is for this world! :D anyway, I appreciate the humour behind!
Richardphotos
well, I can not say anything because I have misplaced many fotos. the effect on the grave adds mystique to it and makes me wonder who the person was
fluffgirl
it,s a nice picture i just hope your cat or dog is not under there..it's different ..does it snow on the farm in the winter..that would make great photo...love to see that...those green hills all white... cheers ...

This photo was taken here in New Mexico at a very old Hispanic Adobe church in a very small town. This is the way they used to make the gravestones out of two pieces of wood in a cross and hold it up with stones. I dont know who was buried under there. lol. I don't remember there being any name on it...but back then, they probably didnt put on any names. You were just lucky to get put in a graveyard in the wild west. :-) BTW..in NH it is fantastic when winter comes and EVERYTHING in site is white. Happens here too sometimes. I LOVE SNOW.

Thank You for this image! Very well done!!V

Very beautiful and thought provoking image, you did a wonderful job it looks excellent! I'm suprized with the radical thinking of today no one's jumped all over you for posting an image that shows something concerning religion! Unfortunate but true... and sad. ~hugs~ ;0

Hmmn.. To me, the lesson is "doing something back to front and the wrong way round can have surprising results": I think the 'digital distressing' of what was already a very strong image has added to it.. Course, that's just me ;)
romanceworks
That's the thing about creating - it tells you how it's gonna be. I like this photo - it is quite intriguing. And of course I wonder who is beneath those stones. And speaking of snow - we just had a storm blow through Colorado and everything is indeed covered in white. :o) CC

Ha ha, seems to me you digged up the file, literally! :)

A very beautiful picture regardless of where the original file was. Also just remember the significance and the story about the cross, and all will be fine. -James

LOL. Well, as was stated above, it is still a very good, no EXCELLENT, image. I love the colors and the play of light on the wall behind it. How simply primitive these graves were. Thank you for the historical aspect. Truly Marvelous ! V
shanpoo

That's a very nicely done photo ... I really like the composition, range of textures, and lighting. I was glad to read that a pet wasn't under the cross. Kudos! V
UweMattern
Well a lot of people have told me "not do this... or you will see your cross from the underside..." never heard what they told me... I am still alive..;-)) The photo looks fantastic now, perfect contrast and shadows. ~Uwe

Oh, this is so beautiful!! I love crosses, I still have not been able to figure out how to make a cool one of my own with any of the programs I have so far either, excellently done!! V :)
TwoPynts
Well, for all the issues this image faced, it still came out pretty darned good! I really like the shadow play of light on the stucco wall and over the tilted cross. The grittyness really works for this image. Earthy yet transcendant! =]
micsteel
Hmm. Nice story! :) Try scanning it at a higher resolution, then--if you have something like Photoshop, which I'm pretty sure you do--run a Gaussian blur at about 1.3 pixels radius; or just scale it! Photoshop doesn't depend on your video card for its calculations, so it should smooth out the graininess and only blur it slightly, which would be fine if you start out at a higher resolution. BUT! It doesn't need any technical perfection to be a great piece of art, and I think the 16-bit grain makes the image look BETTER! More aged, weathered, sand-blasted... Just let it be! :D

Fabulous photo! Love the detail & shadowing. Xcellent
