Description

Went to a civil war reenactment yesterday( thank you Georgy for letting me know about it ) THere was a big battle reenactment all these photgraphers were there. I wasn't all AS interested it in the war /battle fighting stuff. It makes me think of all the people who died during that war and saddens me. What drew me in and attracted me was behind the scenes -the war camps and tents and people who were acting out everday life. THe battle reinactment was raging and so the camp areas were empty. But I wanted just to get away from the crowd. Nothing much but tents and still life shots-eveyone was watching the show- then I ran into this couple Larry Clowers and his sweet wife. This is what they do they travel all over the country speaking and acting out the part. They live in gettysburg-really !!. The unbrella she has there is really from the 1860s! They were near the tents and so I told them I did Graphic arts and asked if they would pose for me. And so this is what they did here. like they are reading an important war document of news that had just arrived. I felt honored that they set the time aside and did this for me as I was the only one shooting. Soon after, LOL! I ran into Abraham Lincoln who looked and acted so real I felt I was in a very great presence (will share that shot tomorrow)... As I shot this and could hear a banjo and hermonica off in the distance~ it seemed surreal..!! Anyways, I showed them this shot and they liked it so much they asked if I would send it to them for their Christmas card this year! I was glad I walked away from the canons and guns! I tried it in sepia and black and white and it took something away from it. So kept it. I have been gone all weekend lol now I am really behind in comments... well, just know I love ya all and will get to it soon.. Big hugs!! ♥ Kimmers :O)!!

It adds new dimensions to see a colorful re-enactment! So different from the sepia colored photo's from the time!

I'm sure they are going to just love the photo. They are really 110% into the reenactment. I can't wait to see Honest Abe. There was one here that looked just like him. I wonder if he is a traveling reenactor as well. Well done Kimmie!

Wow...an excellent portrait!! This would be fun to see in sepia tones...giving it that old fashioned feel. ;-) The colors here are exquisite though and I'm not suggesting sepia instead of the color...just another version. :-) Only an idea...lol Anyway...Excellent portrait and I agree with Andreas that you chose and presented it in the Perfect frame! Excellent!

Excellent image! Love everything about it. In fact, I shot the Gettysburg, PA reenactment this year, and I think we photographed the same people. I will let you know, but I think I have images of the same couple. If they are the same people, they are really into it to travel across the US for these events. Thanks for sharing.
