Description

Ok, I need some help. I'm creating this for my SciFi Anime movie. The problem is SCIENCE! If I put a collage of galaxies the same density as its suppoded to look like, it then looks too cluttered: http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/entire_collection/pr2003001a/ My other option is to use a starscape, which looks really good BUT its incorrect. Any input on ideas of what YOU imagine seeing in this backdrop behind the Milky way? I still have to put in lighting and foreground objects and masks for the camera to fly through. So this is just the texture tests (30,000+ faces) with no post processing (except for the lettering) Please leave your input of what I should use... stars, galaxies, nebulous matter and gas clouds?? I've never seen the galaxy from this position and I was hoping to hear what you think it should look like. Thanks!

Forgot to add... I AM putting in an intersecting Sagittarius Galaxy being ripped apart from our Galaxy... actually working on it right now.

Don't forget the Magellanic Clouds, both major and minor, and then there should be a spherical halo of globular clusters centered around the core. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magellanic_cloud

Sorry dude I know nothing of space! that said it's your gallaxy, and it is after all sci fi! How about a few floating space cows? It's your dream Magnatude, don't be swayed by what you think others want to see. This probly dosn't help. Sorry. I just want to see some individality and you seem to have it in spades. Best of luck.

A good start. I recommend that you google Andromeda Galaxy images. The Andromeda galaxy is the closest spiral galaxy to our milky way and is reasonably similar in shape and size. Also I think your galaxy is a bit too bright and solid looking = it needs to look more cloudy and hazy. HTH

thx, I've actually taken the shape from actual radio info on our galaxy. One thing I've found hard to do is get the outward ridge of each arm to look right, I'll transparent it a bit more and add more clouds for sure. The break away (between the 2 arms on the right is our orion cluster (where we live) When the camera move in close you will see dark-matter obsuring most of the light from the center of the galazy.

There is a Milky Way galaxy poster in a 2002 National Geographic magazine. I used it as reference when creating the galaxy image I posted recently on Renderosity.
