Description

The castle was constructed for Bishop Tuto of Regensburg between 914 and 930 A.D on the site of Celtic fortifications dating back to approximately 500 B.C. Emperors, kings, princes and bishops resided on the castle. Burg Donaustauf was long prized (and repeatedly attacked) because of its strategic location. From the top of the hill (one hundred meters high ) soldiers were able to control shipping and military movements on the Danube River. The Swedes have destroyed the castle in the Thirty Years' War at 1634 so much so that she couldn't be set up any more. Thanks for viewing. Olympus 5050.

Oooops....did we really? I speak for all swedes when i say....GOOD RIDANCE!!! LOL! Nah, seriously though...thats a pity for sure. But you gotta admit that it looks really cool now, lol. Awesome mist-shot once again. I still dont know how you do it. How you manage to capture such a grey day and still get those saturated colors of autumn...its beyond me. Beautiful work as always. Have a great pre-humpday! #:O)

Fortunately the Swedes only destroyed the part on earth, not the part in the clouds! :) Fantastic work, a genuine dream-castle!

This is as good as it gets. I like that hint of the castle so far away, almost as if it is floating in the clouds. Lovely colours and persepective.
