Description

I painted this copy of 'Nausicaa' originally painted by Lord Frederick Leighton from the pre-raphaelites, for an exhibition called Fab Fakes. With this I won the people's choice award,2001. I recommend copying master works to any painter for study and improvement to painting techniques. These days we are lacking the opportunity to study under the true masters..

great stuff..I see where the Nausicans on Star Trek come from...;) You ever seen a picture from that period called 'Galetea' (the myth, not that silly sci-fi movie..though I could be spelling it wrong..;) I think you'd do that a good turn..keep 'em coming..

Oh yes you are so right ! .. lol .. I am going backwards in your gallery ...so wrote something for your tomorrows painting :) .. Yes it is a very fantastic learning experience .. copying the grand old masters. I was to do that .. when I went to another artist to learn .. and she made me copy many paintings from the old masters .. so that is how I was taught :) .. Now in the digital world .. you are not to copy anyone or anything .. funny isnt it ? ... Well I wont forget to say something to your picture here .. I find it absolutely beautiful and true to the original :) Wonderful work :):)

Nicely done. IMO your drapery of the dress is more effective IIRC. Now I got some research to do on this! ;-)
