Description

This is Arakeen and is based on the John Schoenherr painting of the same name which was published in Analog when Dune ran as a serial.Frank Herbert said that he "caught with tremendous power and beauty the 'Dune mood' I struggled so hard to create". I think Schoenherr is better than both the movie and SciFi TV show.

This is wild. Is this a work in progress? I also have lightwave but have not learned very much with the program yet. Dune is a great subject to focus some art on. Fantastic

nice start but turn down your global lighting!!! and use a soft fill instead. the hi global light is flattening out your art and hiding all those great details.

OK! I know I am going to get ripped for this but here goes. First you have two options, rip your hair out and try to create realistic mopuntains and terrain in LW or save your self a ton of head banging and down load Terragen. It Exports LWO format terrains that you create there. Terragen gives you the tools to refine and create what ever type of geology you wish and does it faster and better than using the LW tools. If you do not like exactly what you made in Terragen you can open it up in modeler and tweak it to your hearts content. But hands down it is the best thing for making terrains to use in LW. It also can generate some jaw dropping renders it's self. Sure it is a bit more to learn, but in many ways many of its tools and techniques can cross over to using texture displacement in LW. P.S. It still Free! I won't overload you with more right now, As Terragen is a big enough bite to swallow at first. Let the Flames begin.

You're off to a flying start. I'm a bit of a Dune fan myself... and I know how difficult it can be to capture an entire feeling in a single render. A bit more tweaking on the model detailing, the textures, your landscape and specially your lighting.

Love it just the way it is, has a 2D illustrative kind of look, how the hell you'd do better in Terragen or get even anywhere close I'd dearly love to know, without World Machine the native terrain generator is 'pants', Bryce or Vue have more finesse, but for the wild and the exotic I prefer Artmatic or Mojo
