I really enjoy the way youve used light to convey the pastoral mood of a quiet Sunday in the country. The bare feet, the pigtails, the long shadows of a day coming to an end. Very well done, and bravo for having the courage to use such a strong, low angle to place us at the bottom of the hill. Also, thanks for the courage to show so much grass, rather than focus entirely on the girls. This is actually a bit of a risk, but it really pays off and contributes to the classical feeling of this image, giving it a strong painterly feel. The two things I would suggest (and theyre VERY minor) is that perhaps a different color on the dog would help it stand out more from the church and her skirts? As it is, it seems to blend in a bit, and it confuses my eyes so that I have trouble telling where the dog ends and her skirts begin. The second minor point is that the littlest girls pigtails dont seem to be bouncing as much as her body language intimates they should. They seem a bit stiff. Of course, these are micro points when you lose yourself in the beauty of the image! The lighting, the composition wow! Stupendous work!
