This is the first scene of many in a upcoming interactive online adventure. Alot of hard work still ahead.

Looks like the shadow option isn't checked for the spotlights in Max. For the best room-renders you might look at global illumination (GI). If you have a newer version of 3dsMax it's integrated, otherwise there a plugins available; Vray, Brazil R/S, finalrender among others. For texturing you might add a bumpmap (use the same as your diffuse map to test), specular map (use the same as your diffuse map tot test), and use higher resolution textures. The Antialias filter used is also usefull feature if you want sharper renders. Catmull-Rom gives sharper images. The Wineshelf you can add a UVWmap to it, find it in your 'modifiers list' in your objects modifier stack. Maybe break up the planks of the shelf and texture them one by one and shift the wood-texture somewhat. Good luck...
