Description

This piece of art work was created in 1991, while at university. As a student of Fine Arts we had a few weeks of trying out different mediums to work with..I was working in the sculpture dept and decided to do a piece based on how i was feeling at the time...As i had just moved to London and found the place very threatening and intimidating these were the feelings i was gonna work with... The piece was created by using a large slab of clay and building up a lip around the edge and then working into the clay with a brick, pushing my fingers in and also pressing in a plaster face mask i had made several years before...This was to create a negative mould so i could then pour in plaster, let dry and then pull off the clay. As i had no real idea of how it was gonna turn out it was kinda exciting to see it emerge outta the clay.

Heyyyy - - this is great! Really nice experiment - and it certainly conveys the feeling....all thos fingers make me feel almost choked. Thanks for sharing it, and the story.
