This pic took seven hours to render. Can anyone tell me how to make the water surface break more realistically? I

For the water surface, I think you could use terrains, because with this POV a bump isn't efficcacious to render the waves or swell. But it's already a great work like that.

Terrains it is, usually "dunes", but I think this looks great the way it is.

looks good. I agree with the terrain idea for the water. Also, you may want to move up the water line a bit to see more of the underwater terrain.

Brilliant. Colours & lighting are superb. I'll definately be looking out for your art in future. How to make rough water surface? There are many ways. I'd suggest looking through the "backroom" here in the VUE forums. The most common method is to us a flttened out terrains with a water materail applied.
