Description

Excerpt of mission log: "...the continuing exploration of Planet Giger yields still a lot of strange formations. Most of these formations emit a strange unkown energy, that has horrible effects on most kinds living organisms. An additional threat to the attacks of those dark insect-like beings. A very hazardous world... The formation on the above picture, the smaller one of two crater-like formations, is called Beta Cerrent crater. It is the region of the planet with the strongest so far discovered field of this energy. We lost two complete recon teams and most part of a third one. The surviving members of the team told about an entusiastic feeling while approaching the region that suddenly turned to depression, the feeling of being fooled and mental energy drawn off by some evil entity. Additionally some members of the team suffered terrible physical deformations. The casualties were set to artifical stasis until we are back on a space station with better medical equipment. A sad discovery, since this region is rich of water and there are only few of the dangerous insect-like beings that roam most parts of this planet. It was a promising place for a water, hydogen and oxygen extracion facility to supply further deep space explorations in this sector. We now move to a higher orbit and wait for the military task force that was sent here to provide protection for our research teams on the surface. Maybe we will be able to recover some of our missing crew members when they arrive..."
