I once allowed the dinghy to be swamped while it was being streemed behind the "Cayuga" a Canada's cup boat. Letting loose of the rope that was tied to the stern after letting it broach with slack undid my undoing though sails had to eased until she was back aboard and emptied to be set out again. Bligh was not in her and the captive mutiny was contained. I credit your photo with all this.

wow that looks big. but it on a big ship too Guess that how they did it too long time ago to go ashore from the bigger boat and to check out areas where the big boat can not go.
