1 BAD 36 by ptrope

I started out with Dudley's "1936 AM Sedan," available from DAZ, and morphed the body to create a chopped '36 street rod, complete with wide, low-profile wheels and tires, and replaced the bench seat with two contemporary sport buckets. After getting pointed to a couple of tutorials by my fellow members, I managed to make a finish that looked a little closer to realistic than what came with the car; I also added 27 new material zones so I have more control over where and how color is applied, and can make unwanted pieces 'disappear.'
------
Background is Danie & Marforno's free "Action Hall." I used their floor texture on my own floor prop, and "wetted it down," as is common practice with automotive photography; I think it really helped the realism.

A remarkable effort at revealing automotive sheetmetal. I would only fault the grille which needs black between the chrome bars for airflow and lightness. I assume you used Poser 4 and were limited to not using Raytrace to bring out the chrome. Like those who are anachronistically purist, Poser 4 and the console instead of GUI will have adherents. I assure you this is an "Attaboy and not an Aw Shit!"

Thanks, tallpindo. This was actually rendered in P6 with Firefly; I used raytracing for everything except the chrome (as you can see from the various reflections) because none of the chrome materials I tried looked as good as the mapped reflection (!). This is only the first of several test renders; I was mostly intent upon getting the paint to look more realistic, since the materials that came with the model looked dull and artificial. Incidentally, the grille is modeled with separate bars, with black behind them, but at this angle, because they have depth, you see only the sides of the bars ;-).

Wow! Outstanding hot rod! I have this car but never dreamed it could be made to look like this! Brilliant work!
