Description
Hello
I am having the time of my life photographing the new Sumatran Tiger cubs. I am now going every day to document them as they grow. June 12, 2005 male Name - Wiley June 15, 2005 Name - Alyce The birth of these two cubs marks the first time in more than 23 years that tiger cubs have been born at the Los Angeles Zoo. It is also the very first time Sumatran tigers have been born at the Zoo. It is common for the first time mothers of this species to give birth to just a single cub, so it was a surprise when the second cub arrived, and even more so because she arrived so many days later. The cubs were blind and helpless at birth, weighing about 3 pounds each. When fully grown they will weigh between 220 and 330 pounds. The L.A. Zoo hopes to keep the cubs with the mother as long as possible. However, they will eventually go to other Zoos involved in the Sumatran tiger Species Survival plan SSP.
I was afraid of getting involved with documenting these cubs, as I am already sooo heart broken that they will be separated. I have already taken hundreds of photos and you will get to see many more.
I hope you will enjoy this journey with me.
Thank you for looking and your wonderful comments on a beautiful day.
