Submarines continue to be major weapon systems in Western Navys though torpedo warfare has not occurred since 1945. Somehow they have escaped the controversy that swept over aircraft when guns were removed and missiles added. Their stealth has become a word in analyst vocabularies. Being able to walk onto one and examine the packaging is a treat. My sons and I got on the HMS "Porpoise" one sunday morning and met the skeleton watch. I had met the deck crew the previous evening and took them out on the town as they had no car. The events were unrelated. No special invitation was needed to walk aboard. I am pleased to meet the "Sealion."

IIRC it was a torpedo that got General Belgrano in 1981 or so.
