In fifth grade we had a new teacher who was from denmark and who taught us to play soccer in the summer and fox and goose on a big wheel with spokes we trampled in the snow. She one day brought a picture of the mermaid in the harbor of Copenhagen. The other boy, who was born on November 18th like myself, snickered then laughed out loud when the picture got to him. The teacher picked up the picture and brought in no more like that. He went on according to my father to be an FBI agent who recently retired. I found out then my reactions differed from what was expectd of me. I like the picture. I think it is appropriate. I learned phrases like "mind in the gutter" from earlier teachers. Beauty is as shackled as Prometheus. Punishment has seized the upper hand. So, we have this moment in the sun to distinguish ourselves and you have provided it. I don't miss the heroism in revelaing your gift.
