Description
I've started porting Coven to use isosurfaces & Dmytry's volumetric clouds. (in-dev version) The main motivation is to have full shadowing of the terrain (ie boulders casting shadows, etc), but there are numerous other innovations which are advantageous, such as full 3D boulders (not merely displacements). If the terrain looks familiar, it is because it is the same as in this image:

I have, of course, heavily tweaked the materials since that original image.

Fantastic work Eric..The materials look great..The boulder look a little to squared off...But hey..this is all new to us..The clouds are decent..I've been playing my self trying to get nice small puffy one..which is what I assume you were doing here..Great work all in all..Looking forward to seeing more in the future.. Cheers !!

Looks great! Boulders probably need a bit more tweaking...they have some unrealistic look compared to the rest of the terrain.

Agree with pushinfaders and Slav on boulders, the whole render is really impressive, as is the original planet.

I agree with above (boulders)...but that main mountain is awesome man!!...Wow!!

I like the boulders - there appear to be one or two sticking to a steep slope (lower right)unless is mat illusion. Cloud around mountain top doesn't look quite right - more of a painted in Photoshop than volumetric. Regardless of crits is a great achievment converting to iso look forward to seeing more.

Wow, breathtaking. Really get a super sence of scale here especially with the low puff of cloud. Echo the comments about the boulders. Excellent conversion Eric!
