Description
Cinema 4D XL 6. Building faces are textures from Marlin Studios mapped to cubes. The gondola model is mine, but the other boats are third party models. The sky was rendered in Bryce, then mapped to a plane behind the buildings. The balcony was aged and deteriorated post-rendering using Paint Shop Pro 7.

Great job, it is quite a breathtaking view!

...for a finished picture too bad. Working on a game - engine? Sorry, but I think the balcony is not well alpha mapped (if at all). Don't use imported Skies, create your own in the scene and it will fit much better. The Bryce-Sky you imported is a bit too yellow I think. For the balcony create an alpha map and render it seperatly, make the PSP work and put it with the alph map and a new layer with the other stuff together and if neccessary smooth the alpha-edges a bit...

Nope, no alpha map - never even thought of that (still learning the ropes). But I see what you mean. Thanks for the great suggestion!

I would say that the sky makes it look like there's going to be thunder. Sky sometimes goes that colour when there's going to be a bad storm.

Great scene. I like a lot the sky, I thik it gives a romantic atmosphere of Italy. One thing, add some sadows to the ships cos they are like floating over the water. The textures are great, probably you should add more polygons to the boxes of the buildings so that textures will fix better. I thik its a great image, just correct the details and you will have an execellent image. ;-)

Really nice scene which will be excellent if you follow Guillermo's suggestions. :-) Also, there is a Sky plug-in for Cinema (a freebie on the Maxon site) that does Bryce type skies so there isn't any need to import them. Very nice work, I love the colours. :-)
