Description

Something completely different this time.... While typing this text it snows like hell overhere. I know, I know...compared to countries like Austria or Switzerland it really means nothing, but for us in The Netherlands it's pretty unusual. And because we're not used to this kind of weather we've had lots of problems today (traffic jam all over the country, closed roads, delayed trains). Especially the region in the middle of our country. And that's exactly where our most famous National Park is located: De Hoge Veluwe. And because I payed a visit to this National Park a few weeks ago....well...see above pictures. It shows a collage of a statue in honor of General Christiaan Rudolf de Wet: Boer soldier and statesman, regarded by Afrikaner nationalists as one of their greatest heroes. He won renown as commander in chief of the Orange Free Stateforces in the South African War (1899

Great photos, and very interesting comment. I'm sure not a lot of people know much about the Boer War (I, for one, while well educated, don't). Do keep up the good work!
