Description

This is an early posting of my latest creation I call "Starbase". I was inspired by watching an episode of Star Trek - The Original Series. I did a screenshot on an episode and then studied it and rendered this close copy, not exactly 100% like the image on TV, but close enough. This is a work in progress, but its coming along nicely. I started it and just couldn't stop, its evolving day to day. This phase is a culmination of 10 hours work. Enjoy.

Very 60's sci-fi. Neat idea.

Oh yeah, the episode with Christopher Pike if I remember correctly.

I like this because it reminds me of the kind of sci-fi pictures you used to see during the fifties. Nice clean modernistic lines, a bright sunshiny sunshiny environment, and some grass. It's a nice break from all the dark gritty stuff that seems so prevalent nowadays.

Thank you VegeBrain. That is exactly the effect I was going for, and I 100% agree with you on the dark gritty comment. More to come my friends!

Oh yeah. I could tell your source just from the thumbnail. Good job, it shows you captured the spirit. The planter was a fountain if I remember but I think the fooled with that matte painting for several different episodes. Always loved when they used matte paintings in ST as it broke them out of that small studio look. I think the lighting and colors are the elements that really give it that golden age look. I love your description of "just couldn't stop". It's a catchy little bug, art. Look forward to your next post.

Looks like the kind of scene you'd see out of a set window. Excellent mate
