Description

Does anyone have any ideas? When I open a file in Photoshop 7 with blue sky and blue water, it changes to purple sky and purple water. No there is nothing wrong with the monitor, I am running dual monitors that are calibrated just fine, the file opens fine in other programs, photo impressions, picture Project, image zone, etc. any file I open with Photoshop now, has a purple tint to it. This problem just started on this computer and I am running Photoshop 7 on two other computers and they work just fine. All of the color settings are set to their defaults, and I verified this by looking at the other Photoshop installations. I had recently installed the Microsoft color control panel Applet for Windows XP v 1.0, but I had also install this on the other computers without a problem. I uninstalled the applet anyways but it did not solve the problem. I had recently installed the P.I.M. (print image matching) plug-in for Photoshop and I was not sure if this was the problem, so I uninstalled that also and it did not solve the problem. If I go to the color settings and change: RGB from (sRGB IEC1966-2.1) to (monitor Samsung 21 Syncmaster), the color looks better but that would be treating the symptoms not solving the problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated Thanks Randy also did control/alt/shift to reset the preferences and that did not work. I also did a system recovery and uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop 7, these did not solve the problem. Also, I went to the ICC (international color Consortium) web site and installed a new "sRGB_IEC61..." file, and that did not work either. I keep a complete and accurate computer log for every computer in the House for troubleshooting purposes, the only software installed or changes that were made recently were mentioned above, the Microsoft color control panel applet for Windows XP, and the print image matching plug-in for Photoshop (PIM) was from the recently purchased Canon flatbed scanner (Canonscan 8400f) Thanks in advance for any help or ideas to try, Randy

Yes, I can click and drag Photoshop to the other monitor, and even halfway in between, the problem is definitely with Photoshop. The above information has been posted in the Photoshop forum and the photography fourm, along with other forums on the Internet. Please feel free to leave any ideas you may have, or tell your friends and fellow Photoshop users about this challenge.

I thought at first it was a problem with the monitor, one which I am currently suffering and I also thought for one moment that the image on your screen was one of mine. I have one slightly similar in my gallery and one very similar on my hard drive. So sorry can't help you my friend :(

First thing that came to me was monitor calibration. I don't have that drastic a problem, but a very similar one and have yet to find a reason for it. Sorry! :)

Photoshop does lots of nasty things. When I have something like this time and again, I just shrug and quit the program. The next day I open it, catching it unawares, and sometimes I get what I want. Other times I don't. This, my friend, is a problem only Photoshop itself can resolve, but don't expect anything from them. Do try your luck in a forum. I know it's frustrating, and you're not alone. What to do? Get another upgrade? I hope your problems get resolved like mine. Pretend there's nothing wrong. Open the damn program a couple of days later. Oh, well, pigs might fly. Sorry I can't help you out!

In Photoshop CS you can hold shiftctrlalt as you click the PS icon on your desktop to reset your tools to the orginal settings..will PS7 do this as well?..maybe try this and it may work.

sorry, I alway use PSP and not PS! but maybe the PS has to many color settings and there is the wrong one chosen!? You shouls look under "image" in the menue and have a look to "palettes"! so it could be in PSP and guess PS is similar! ;o)))
