I'm a 53 year old woman, who enjoys 3D rendering, photography, breeding and exhibiting English Budgerigars. I also am learning to speak Nepali. I live in the "kinda" northeast area of the USA. Just me and my one cockatiel....at the moment. (Bird wise that is...)
I have been doing Poser since June of 2005 because of my oldest brother prodding me along. I'm glad he did! I don't strive for absolute perfection in my renders. I render for stress relief and above all FUN and enjoyment.
I had to take a sabbatical for a while but I am now back and I am very impressed to see all the changes! This is going to be exciting!

I like the first ones skin better....her skin in the 2nd looks a lil patchy......but i like the 2nd ones eyes better lol both are awesome tho
LiquidRust
I like the first render better actually. :D Did you change the skin ambience? lol...oh bah! I know nothing about poser..:p
zescanner
I am guessing that the ambience setting is different? I like the first one better. The skin looks too "pasty" to me in the 2nd one. The deeper tones in the 1st one giver her more depth. Wait... maybe it is the reflection map that is different. The highlights in the eyes are different.

Okay, I'm stepping out of this one. Considering I don't do Poser. I will say that I like number one better. But to define what you did differently -- can't do that as I don't use Poser. But this is excellent -- I can't wait to see what you say is different. Thanks for the challenge!
Turtle
The eyelashes are better in the second one, so is the eye color. but the rest I like no 1. :O)
Marty_Mcfly84
although i see that the eye color and reflections are different in the two renders and i also see the difference in the shadow under the chin and the ear and the lips are 2 different shades and the eyelashes appear to be slightly different, soooo i guess you got me i can't guess the 1 change you did to create a different look.....
alan42
well, more than one thing must have been changed because she has brown eyes in the first and blue in the second... the eyelashes are also thincker in the first.... I like the skin tones in the first - definitely warmer. The second is a pale skin look and definitely doesn't have the same "glow" to the chin, cheeks and forehead that the first does. I prefer #1, but it depends what look you are after I guess
Litehouse901
Oh, my, Alan42 -- you are right -- I didn't notice the eye color! I'm sorry about that! But it is not the eye color that is causing the major difference in the render.
fastburn
Even though the skin on the first one looks more natural, the eyes on the second draws alot of attention away from the pale shade of the skin. To me the eyes are the most important part. No matter how real the character looks, they always have those dead 3d lifelees eyes. So when the eyes look as realistic as possible so does the character! That's why i like the second one better! Now as for the difference between the two, i would guess you added a little color to the channel your tex's are in! All in all a fantastic job!!

Well, since I didn't get it right when you sent this to me last night, I am certain I am going to continue going in the wrong direction. Since I have really only started to use the "advanced" settings since I got this new system I originally though you had set some IBL lights and adjusted the AO settings on it or had used the Sub-Surface setting in the Material room. But now I am wondering, based on the last couple of comments, which make sense to me, if you didn't plug a texture or color into the the lights themselves One or more hard to guess on that part.
Elfenone
Looks like you used different make ups in the two. The top one looks like there's a shader on her. Second one looks paler and less vibrant.
MOOOW
Wonderful portrait like both really beautiful portraits with excellent lighting!!

No 2! - the eyes, lips and skin tone is different. I like No 2 better.
Tamela.J.
I know, I know, I know!!! LOL Outstanding!! I wont say anything more as to give any tips hehee
Parthius
The skin tone /shading looks much better in the first. The light area under the chin in the second doesn't look right. The eyes have been changed, color and "reflections." I have to go with the top one. Excellent work!
anitalee
I prefer the top one, but their are nice aspects in the second as well.
violet
I'll go for the second one...I'm a sucker for beautiful eyes....beautiful character by the way..
Litehouse901
Yes, Jean-Luc -- as I have mentioned to others - don't overthink the problem. It's a very "simple" thing that I did with Poser 6.0...I'll post the "answer" tonight. I'm really enjoying everyone's comments...thank you
Lully
you kept saying "SIMPLE".... the only place I have seen that on poser is in the material room, have you used IBL WACROS, dunno what they are but it's something to do with the light and as the light plays a big part in colour and she's shiney in the second one, could it be that??? waiting in anticipation of the answer as its driving me mad!!!! good fun though lol
FS
I like the eyes from no 1 and the skincolor from no 2.Beautiful lighting and facial expression! Excellent!!!
Litehouse901
Okay, the answer is.....I used the Material Room to apply the MATS and makeup in the top render. In the second render I applied them in the Pose Room. Hence, the difference. As I said, a person who is well versed in the Poser realm asked me to try this as they felt there would be a differnce. Sure enough, there was....so, that folks, is the mystery. MATS and makeup applied in the Material Room vs. the Pose Room. Thank you all for your comments. This was a lot of fun and very interesting for me. =o)
bramhambabe
oh thats so cool. i would never have guessed it could make such a difference and its a very striking difference. well done :)
Yotna
Wow! That is surprising, another 'undocumented feature' still - very useful to know... I have started playing with DS more. As I think the interface is better than posers. Does seem to favour Daz figure though - LOL.
Jean-Luc_Ajrarn
Weird... material room and pose room are applying the materials differently? i had no idea. Thanks for the comparison and idea. :)
B_PEACOCK
Sorry late on this .But what it seems to me is the color when aplied .Meaning in the pose file when made ,the texture strenth and even color could be slightly altered and that would make the change. That can be done when making a pose file :) Nice work on them
morin3000
