Description


Most people consider Holland and the Netherlands two names for the same country. In fact it isn't. Holland is the Western part of the Netherlands and is also devided in two parts, both provinces. The Northern part (Noord-Holland and biggest city Amsterdam) and the Southern part (Zuid-Holland and the biggest city Rotterdam). Both provinces have lots of windmills, more than anywhere else in the country. The architecture of the Northern windmills is completely different from the Southern windmills. What you see here is a Northern type... almost windtunnel shaped. No elements outside the mill, all elements are built inside the mill. The Southern windmill is quite te opposite.... In general... there are lots of differences I didn't mention here...
