Description

I have been working on this to use as my Christmas card. Had a little trouble since I insisted on using existing light from the deck ceiling. Also, have been using my d70, shooting in manual for quite a while and slowly learning as I go. The package is "blown out" but I figured that light would bounce up onto their faces. "sigh" Next time I'll choose a different colored wrapping paper and set up a few reflector panels! Anyway...Comments are always welcome! Jodie :0)

You cheap bastard!!! You only bought one gift for your kids huh? And now they have to fight eachoter over it....pfffft. #:oP HIIII JODIEEEEE! Awesome set-up, not really sure why youre not satisfied with it. I would have been mighty proud if i had managed to capture their cute faces half as well as you have. Very sweet! I bet that boy wrote "A new hat" on the top of his letter to Santa. #:oP Ooops...what if you made that one? Im not trying to offend you or anything...sure looks like a mighty fine craftmanship...although the colors look a little....70s wouldnt you say? Aaaarrggghhh....this is what happens when i wake up at 4am having had only 2 hours of sleep...i start to ramble....and i cant for the life of me figure out a way to stop. Ooooh oooh i know, i will just press that little button at the bottom that says "Submit". Have a wonderful humbday!!!! #:o)

If these were mine, I would be so proud of them, Jodie. How wonderful that they can create that 'look' of awe and wonder. (How much did you pay them??:) )As for the lighting, I think this works because it looks informal and intimate. I wonder if the trickery will make it look too studio? I think this would be a card that has pride of place, not just shoved up with the rest of them. Well done, my magical friend. xx

Well, I think your models did an excellent job! This is a cool capture for a Holiday Greeting card. Very Norman Rockwell (and I mean that in the nicest sense)! I think the overexposure on the package is okay -- it tends to emphasize the gift; my only reservation would be the siding showing faintly in the background. Perhaps tweaking the contrast and brightness a bit would eliminate that. A wonderful, expressive shot!

The wonderful facial expressions overshadow any minor light issues. In fact, my reaction was that the packages reflected the glow of the season. This one gets a well deserved vote.
