Description

After reaching Fafleralp (1788 m, 5866 ft) we park the car and start our hike. Like on many places in the Alps the rosebay willowherb (Epilobium angustifolium, fireweed as many of you know this flower as well) grows abundantly here and there, usually on open places and on this location close to a little lake with crystal-clear water. OOOOOOOH!!! This is just lovely! What a palette of gorgeous colors my friend. Huh @ Georgia. Youve never seen these before? I thought they were common everywhere. At least here they are everywhere...like weed...but still pretty weed. Wonderful shot! Have a great day. #:O)

My mind has a very condensed flora and fauna so I would have said "lupine" and been corrected by my sister and mother. In the same way I cannot distinguish a larch from a pine but can comment at the exact point on the trail where the elevation causes the forest to change. Once upon a time the water would be a brook filled with browns and brookes but now it is warm and not potable.

What a lovely place Jan-Carel ! These colors are fantastic, with the contrast of the pink flowers and this water so blue. If it wasn't so cold, it would be the perfect river and place for a small refreshment... Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!! It's perfect to fish here... no difficulties to see it ;o))) Only the mountains could offer us similar landscapes ! A wonder of Mother Nature !
