Description

This is going to be the INSS MacArthur from the novel "The Mote in God's Eye" by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. Niven & Pournelle based the MacArthur on the old AMT "Leif Ericson" model kit (designed by Matt Jeffries) - so I've used the Leif Ericson as my starting point

I loved my old "Leif Ericson" model! It was such a cool ship! (And it survived moves a lot better than the AMT "Enterprise" kit!) Looking forward to seeing the final version!

Great! I'm a huge fan of the Motie stories - space opera as it should be! And given yopur amazing skills with Sci fi images I'm looking forwardto the completed image. Good work.

I had a cool glow-in-the-dark model of this ship as a kid, and I've always thought it was too cool. Now to see it again here. Awesome. Hope you plan to do more with it !

I'd really love to see you do more withthis model. It's the finest rethink of the Leif Ericsson into the MacArthur that I've seen. I love the design sense you've injected into Matt Jeffries work. My two suggestions for taking it further would be to add more detail to the texture map to improve the sense of scale and to add some kind of noticable turrets, as they're mentioned in the text - even if it's just the outlines of retractables. But that said, I'm so sold on your design - just great!
