Description

The first part goes easy, the inclination of the track is not demanding too many efforts, but soon that will change. All kinds of water together here in one capture: clouds, ice, water. The huge side moraine shows well the glacier has retreated a long way, but the ice of the glacier tongue can be seen yet. If I arrived here and found someone had laid out a picnic with apricots, chocolate with crusty bread and chilled white wine...I would marry them.

At thsi point you know you are going to get there but the looseness of the talus in the defile is unsettling. There is no ancient path. The footing seems to just slide into the stream. Only small nimble animals live here. The sure footed hoofed ones... but then you are telling the story in real time. Any plan is only an accomodation of chaos.

Fantastic shot JC, sorry to not have the time to comment more, you know why and I hope that this long session of intense work gonna stop (in 12 days we're free) I wish you a nice sunday my friend, Georges.

The "hanging" glaciers on the right are interesting, showing the recent retreat has been rapid. But golly, Jan-Carel, you've got to get going. Rozanne is up there just ahead waiting for her apricots and wine.

What a powerful picture! The surging brook from the glacier forms such an impressive focal point of the picture with the stark mountains on either sides.

Its so nice to see the clean white water coming down from the mountain but more amazing is that the rushing river water is coming from the mountains with no rain in the sky. That water must be freezing ice cold and where does that river start from? The walls of this valley looks impossible to trek leaving the only path in the center. It sure doesn't look easy too. Very impressive picture and I'm enjoying your hikes very much. Be careful guys. Aloha
