The 1953 Buick was a warer shed car in the estimation of my uncle and the father of my best friend. They insisted I sit in their car and listen to how quiet it was while idling. There was no drive. The message was in the vault like whoosh of the door as it closed. Later a green one with long lakes pipes and under fender lites came into where I worked and made intimidating moves. It's name was "The Jade". My final meeting was at the new asphalt Ubly Dragway where I faced a 53 Buick with a 401 cubic inch. We ran in C Gas and I had a hole shot on him and was train lengths ahead going into second. Then the main drive gear blew out in the 1939 Ford transmission I was running at that time. This one has very nicely integrated needle nose bubble skirts with the side chrome. A gentle nudge is what it takes to notice luxury.
