Description

Sorry no race-queens this time. It is actually (how surprising) still a work in progress, this is the lander-hab (as in habitat), i still need to make a hi-gain antenna and fill up the inflatable greenhouse. Next up are the ERV (Earth Return Vehicle) wich actually arrives months if not years before the first humans set foot on Mars. The ERV will have a small chemical plant that through the Sebatier-process, hydrogen and Water Electrolysis will produce, Methane, Oxygen, hydrogen (fed back into the Sebatier-process) water from the Martian CO2 atmosphere. Methane is the fuel to drive things around and makes a easy to handle rocket fuel wich should propel the ERV up and home again.

You live on Mars? I've never seen you. Do you get around Cydonia much? Great pic!

By looks of things and your narrative you've visited there, right. Very good scene.

Aren't they looking to land someone on Mars in the next 20 or so years? I forget when the timeframe is, but Pres. Bush recently gave around 200 mil to NASA for some such purpose. The 3D here meshes very well with the photograph, although it would be nice to make the shadows a bit softer (the sun is REALLY far away =). Oh, yes, and while you're there, would you say hello to my friend Eric? Last I heard he was getting ready to climb Olympus Mons...

Olympus Mons? Cydonia? That's almost on the other side of the planet for me at the moment, sorry but the explorer-rover won't arrive until the next supplies that arrive in 8.5 months time, a Hohmann Transfer Orbit may save on fuel, but should not be in a hurry. As for Nasa and Bush, lets hope they are planning for more than just a F&F mission (Footprints and Flags). Mmmh, as for shadows, ahem we had some heated discussion about those on the Bryce-forum, lets no go into that again.
