Sleep (Forever) I watched her lay, bruised and cut I watched her as she'd sleep After everything that we'd been through Her memory I would keep Gracefully as they always did Her eyes began open But on that cold December night Her happiness was stolen They took from her everything she loved Something no one should lose Her love, her life, her happiness She never got to choose She tried to speak of tomorrow Of all that we could do Neither of us would dare to say What it was that we both knew Tomorrow for her would never come Old she would never grow Sitting there with her that starless night I didn't know how to let go One last time, she looked at me No words needed to be said I sat once more in an angel's presence Cried for her life instead Holding my hand, she took one last breath And joined God in the sky I wonder if she's happy And how it feels to fly... She may be gone from this Earth But she's still my best friend It's just like we always said Forever, 'til the end. ~Dedicated to the memories of Megan, Erica, Jesse and Holly~ K
