Hi, my name is Janice, I am an artist and photographer, not unlike alot of the other members on this site. I do try to do some interesting and unique combinations that I hope people will enjoy and perhaps will make them smile. I like to work with different mediums and palets. Some times I digitally enhance, and try to create something totally different. Please feel free to visit my website www.hidinthesierras.com where you can see alot more of my work and there are links to sites, with a cart, where you can buy prints, or you can leave me a message if you would like to purchase prints. I have sizes available up to 13"x19", printed with pigminted inks and quality papers with archival quality good up to 200 years.Thank you for visiting my gallery!BIOI live in the Eastern Sierras with my family, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. I love to take photos of where I live and being a courier, it gives me lots of chances. It also makes good material for my art work.I like to do all kinds of out door things, and usually have my camera which is a digital, Nikon 5400, with me.

Oh this is fantastic!! :-) A photo that makes you smile. Excellent capture!! And as far as people and their garbage, they can't even use the trash bins at the wildlife preserves I have visited. It makes me so angry to see beer bottles and other trash littering such beautiful places.

A wonderful nature image. Few people know that black bears can outrun a horse for short distances. They are very quick when they want to be. I make it a point to keep quite distant, so thanks for this amazing close-up view. They are magnificent animals.

I know that bears can be dangerous. I certainly don't think any one should be this close. I actually am quite used to them and, are used to seeing these too in my back yard. They are so used to me taking shots of them. Most black bears are more afraid of you than you are of them. If you make lots of noise and don't get to close, they will leave the area. Unfortunatly most of the bears you see around town are quite used to people and are looking for food, just don't get in there way! One time I opened the front door and they're was a big bear standing there, I did shut the door really quick. I don't even see these guys in the forest, they stay away from you, especially if you have dogs! 8-)

super shots. I read where you can lite a broom on fire and chase them away. And I read where a preacher in the 1700's had to kill a bear by hitting it on the nose with his bare fist.[you can break his nose and he can not breath]

super capture of these bears. they are beautiful. any wild animal is dangerous especially when they weigh an easy 300-400 and up pounds. there has been several reports of bears breaking into houses after food. if a person is in the way then they might be a snack. be careful twice and foolish not ever

Yep thats really sad Janice, we have the same over here in the Alps .. people just dropping their trash wherever they go wich causes some really damage to our animals world here. And thanks for your comment on my last posting 'Hideout'!

Great capture of the amazing animals. I like your story in the comment section..a bear at the door. You don't want to turn your back on them and leave a bear behind..lol

What a playful image. Gotta respect these powerful beasties, but as you say, do not fear them.

While never in my backyard, i've had a few close encounters of the bear kind hiking; you're right a person just has to be alert and noisy! Jingle-jingle go the bear bells. Great shot BTW!

wow.. would be a sight to see out in the open.. a terrific shot too! :]

Yes I agree...we don't do the bears any favors by leaving food out and disrupting their natural cycles...black bears in our area get out of hand sometimes and have to be trapped and taken back to the higher ground.
