Description

This is an update to an older image (Lonely Commute). I have gone back and upgraded the textures, lighting, background scenery and general tone to take advantage of new knowledge and render capabilities. This all started when I found these shades as a freebie in a thread over at CGTalk but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control the zip has been lost (I was able to retrieve the model though) and I still don't know to whom to attribute them. If anybody knows, let me know please. Thanks also to Rochr for the cool freebie signs, Andreas Calmbach for Robert and Aurety for the nightime building mat basics! Your generosity is appreciated! Thanks for looking! Updated to do some rework in line with comments received. Thanks for the feedback! Re-updated to add some more visual bling and post work tricks learned since the original.

OOps! I cut myself off. I would like to add...this is the kind of work that makes me itch to redouble my own efforts. Thanks for the inspiration.

Two things come to mind; one the foreground (except for the great droid) is imho way to clean, and two; its a bit a pity that the light from the building blocks is so repetive and eveybody seems to be awake there, (maybe try photoshopping those textures and put some lights out, ad some reds and yellows for a bigger variety)? And now you probably 'hate' me for me telling you to go back to the drawingboard, right? ;-)

I totally agree with riko-this would definately benefit from some variety in the building texs.Keep them sharper too-the depth of field seems to be a bit harsh. Also change the shapes a little too, buildings in most citys vary widely. This has great potential.

Awesome scene! It's always a pleasure that we can see some different images from the "standard" (even the "standard" is awesome of course) here :-)

I never would have noticed some of the "weaknesses" that have been noted by some other astute observers. This is a stunning, visually complex image to my untrained eyes.
