i thought it was a butterfly on the tree grandson only 9 said it,s a moth

We call em Lunar moths here. Found often exhausted on the ground under street lamps come morning. Cool photo

This is the Luna Moth. It is one which does not eat, as I recall. It will breed and lay eggs for the next generation then go on. These are beautiful creatures. I have one on my gallery laying eggs...not my best photo but real, none the less. Really beautiful creatures are these.
