Description

Getting acquinted with my new app: Lightwave. I was told to train my texturing and lighting skills. This is the first image in that pursue. Took a picture from my toilet (on the left) and tried to recreate it with LW (outcome on the right). Comments are very welcome.

Very cool indeed! I would recommend however you drop your bump map down to at least 60-70% on the loo roll and try an area light instead of spot, also turn the shadow settings off from the other spot light too ;-). It bares an almost perfect resemblance to your source photo. Well done!

Is it your first touch at LW!?! Its ages ahead to many LW renders Ive seen here!! You must be really good at 3D in general. *** Regarding the remarks of oooZENOooo, I agree [there apear to be two almost hard shadows instead of soft ones; I don`t know LW well yet but in Blender an area light usually solves such problems]. I would also suggest some kind of softening the paper texture [Noise? Increasing the subdivision level?]-it looks too perfect, like made of excellent top-quality paper, not a rough roll of recycled junk;) Also, the main shadow is much deeper than on the photo, lightening it would also at least partially solve the problem of too well-looking paper texture.

It is a grayscale-bitmap acquired to a UV-map on one particular polygon as a bump-map. The text was black and surrounded by a white rectangle which again was sorrounded by a black area. Hope this helps you.
