Description

The Crucifixion Our Lord and Saviour Well this has got to be hardest image I have ever done. I had to create the look on Jesus of his suffering. As I was painting the wounds and blood on him, I found it difficult, because I take the crucifixion of Christ very seriously. I cannot beleive that people were so savage to do what was done to him and this picture still does not do that justice. Mel Gibson's movie "THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST" depicts the suffering very well. I found myself crying as I was creating the nails and then I had to put them in to his arms and I felt as if I was actually driving the nails into his skin. I could just imagine and it hurts me. But we must all remember, as I remembered at that time, that God had a plan and this had to be done for all our sins. Thank you I will say no more and leave you with some verses from the book of Matthew 27:45- 54. The death of Jesus. From the sixth hour to the nineth hour darkness came over all the land. About the nineth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice "Eloi, Eloi, Lama sabachthani?" which means "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah." Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick and offered it to Jesus to drink. The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him." And when Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of their tombs and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son of God!"

you've done wonders with the expression! I think that you could lift this even further with some really dramatic lighting and shadows - maybe a bit of sweat for the skin texture perhaps? But some really good posing - well done:)

Nice work, although it would be great to see an image of the Resurrected Christ rather than the crucified one. Unfortunately, many of today's Christians focus on the cross rather than the risen Son. In crucifying our lower nature (on the cross) each of us will one day experience the ressurection just like Jesus did. We cannot imagine his suffering but we can share in the same Joy. Live in The Light today and grieve not for yesterday.

Steve100. I appreciate your comment but we must remember the sacrifice Jesus made. He was blameless and perfect, the Perfect Man. The cross represents everything that God gave to us because of his deep love and mercy for us. Although Yes we Rejoice in the light and look forward to eternal life with the Risen Christ, but God gave us the Ultimate Lamb, the Ultimate sacrifice for our sins so that ALL that beleive shall be saved. Besides all this, the first image I put in the gallery is the RESURECTED CHRIST, you must have missed it. Thank you... Your Brother in Christ, Rigo466

In some Christian Circles, there's still some Debate, over whether or not Jesus Christ, was nailed through the Palms of his Hand, or nailed through the Wrists of his Arms. Still a great picture for all to appreciate, RIGO466.
