Description

(WOODLAND WALK) I CAME ACROSS THIS CHURCH YARD AS I CAME HOME FROM MY WALK. THE CHURCH IS IN THE GROUNDS OF SOMERLEYTON HALL NEAR LOWESTOFT ENGLAND. I WONDER DO PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THE GRANDER THE HEAD STONE THE EASIER IT IS TO GET INTO HEAVEN. OR PERHAPS EVEN IN DEATH THE RICH HAVE TO SHOW THAT THEY HAVE MORE MONEY THAN THE REST OF US. OR PERHAPS THEY WANT TO SHOW THAT THEY GRIEF IS LARGER THAN THE POOR PEOPLE, WHO KNOWS. ANYWAY AFTER ALL THAT THINKING I DO ACTUALLY LIKE THIS CROSS AS A BIT OF SCULPTURE. I live near a similar churchyard, and the so-called "great and good" from Victorian and Edwardian times have huge monuments - were they glorifying God or themselves? You've lit and framed this image very well; it really brings out the detail on ther cross.
