Description

Yesterday's zoom was not finished yet, but I could not put all the pictures in one collage at this size so I decided to conclude the zoom today. The upper one shows the melt-water along the glacier where the glacier - apparently - is not covering the rocks. The bottom picture is a cropped version of the top picture, because I wanted to show the splashing water with all the drops that fly through the sky now and then. Yesterday's question about the blue color of the ice of the glacier made me think. The blue color is caused both by the absorption of the spectral colors with relatively little energy, mainly red and yellow, leaving the colors with more energy, like green and especially blue as we see that here. More explanations at http://webexhibits.org/causesofcolor/5C.html (blue ice) and http://webexhibits.org/causesofcolor/5B.html (blue water). Initially I thought this would be the last one of the series, but yesterday's mistake about the red dots made me aware I have to add something to complete this series (but that will remain a surprise... :). Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 300 mm and (last picture) cropped) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

I wish all your shots had the little red specks (people) as thery give a great indication of scale, which is so hard to realize with these incredible rock formations. This has been a fine series!

The size is not clear inndeed but still i think this is very impressive. It still makes one feel very small.

I've seen the strange blue that appears in ice axe holes in the snow. It can be really weird how deep blue it makes the snow. I'll have to check out the link. This Melt water shot is wonderful, the ice looks alive somehow.

The lively splash with the massive ice and no mist focuses on the triple point of fusion, evaporation and state. The invisible and supercritical dance as artists.

Superbe ! J'aime le vis vis de la roche rouge et du glacier avec le flot entre deux.. Like opposit red rock and glacier, and little flood between... Excellent series you shared, step by step, with us.. Can't do mountaineering, or simply that kind of mountain trip, as I'm chilly...
