Everywhere people with camera's find their way in this world to make their shots. I like the art of taking realistic pictures, because it provides a way to show how I experience this world. It is a way for other people to look through my eyes.Nature ... exists primarily for her face, her look, her appeals to the heart and the imaginationGeorge MacDonaldJan-Carel Vierbergen
Picture courtesy of Ruut WegmanBIOIt is all in the family: love for hiking in the nature. Since my childhood I'm used to walk with father, brothers, cousins, etc., and take pictures (Minolta X-700 with 28-70 mm and 100-300 mm zoom) of what I see. I grew up in Ede (The Netherlands), studied Electrical Engineering in Eindhoven and I am working now as Coordinator e-learning at the Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (http://www.che.nl) where I implement digital assessments for students and assist students in DTP and creating websites.
Since I know little about photographing as well as computer science it was not difficult to find ways for putting images on the web. The only thing to look for now is to find ways for showing the slides in a convenient way. I tried already something at http://www.che.nl/users/jcv (Dutch only, click at Dia's van de natuur in Nederland en de Alpen), but this platform provides good means to share my pictures with others.
I hope you enjoy this!

I wish all your shots had the little red specks (people) as thery give a great indication of scale, which is so hard to realize with these incredible rock formations. This has been a fine series!

The size is not clear inndeed but still i think this is very impressive. It still makes one feel very small.

I've seen the strange blue that appears in ice axe holes in the snow. It can be really weird how deep blue it makes the snow. I'll have to check out the link. This Melt water shot is wonderful, the ice looks alive somehow.

Im just looking for that little "rat" from Ice Age, LOL. Awesome captures Jan Carel! That ice sure looks like its been there for a long time. Have a great saturday!!! #:O)

Rocky stones polished by the water power. Excellent pictures

The lively splash with the massive ice and no mist focuses on the triple point of fusion, evaporation and state. The invisible and supercritical dance as artists.

Superbe ! J'aime le vis vis de la roche rouge et du glacier avec le flot entre deux.. Like opposit red rock and glacier, and little flood between... Excellent series you shared, step by step, with us.. Can't do mountaineering, or simply that kind of mountain trip, as I'm chilly...
