Description

A continuation of my "2 Trees" picture. More trees, some distant mountains, clouds and a lot of tweaking of the lighting set-up. I'm pretty sure my monitor has a good calibration - however I have the Global Brightness of the Realistic Sky dialog at 210%, 1 sunlight at 120% then in the Render Room the Sky Light intensity is at 130% and the Global Illumination (ambient occlusion only) at 170%. After doing all that I approached something that, to me, looks like a normal sunlit scene. For those that previously asked, the grass was done by using a grass mesh from http://3dplants.0catch.com/index.html and then using the surface replicator to place about 500 copies onto the terrain. I also put a light green colour into the translucency channel of its shader. The daffodil is a modified version of the one from the default object browser. Added some translucency (of course) and replicated with a little clumping. Oh, and also added some small texture maps to the leaf object on the trees. I created separate colour and tanslucency maps. Hope you like it.

Beautiful and realistic landscape. What a difference translucency makes.

This is working really well now. Although I liked the 2 trees picture this one is even better. What's next, 18 trees?

Very nicely done and thanks for the info on the grass. This whole scene looks very natural and although the lighting settings might seem a bit high it looks right for a bright, summer's day.

Your scene is absolute beautiful! Wow, I wish I was there now. Every detail is something special. But I like the flowers a lot. ;)

Simple scene but very detailed. The leaves on the trees really look like leaves should look. Very nice image. :) I like it a lot. :)

Very nice. I find too that I often have to use relatively high values for the skylighting and sunlight for scenes at noon. I think you'll find you can cut some of those values back (and get more realistic lighting within the tree foliage) if you use full global illumination rather than just ambient occlusion, though that's likely to bring your machine to it's knees while rendering. =)
