Description

The "Cotopaxi 9 Massacre" was invented by Terran holocasters, using the holos from which this still is taken. Out of half a million male soldiers, StarGirls vaporised barely a hundred, all men who had opened fire after the formal surrender and all in open combat. This figure was inflated by ten thousand per cent by Melissa Wagner, in a move that baffled even the cerebral StarGirls. Wagner, in fact, was a feminist with decidedly extreme views, despairing of creating a spontaneous sex war movement in the Solar Sector, where women had no grievances. Wagner and her associates wanted to acquire the means to win a sex war, even (or, perhaps, especially) where only a tiny minority of women actually sympathized. Access to StarGirl technology would be perfect. Embarrassed by the publicity given to the non-existent massacre, that is exactly what the StarGirls handed over. A swift and brutal war gave the hardliners control of Solar space in Terran year 4205. Nothing is known of Melissa Wagner after the Martian Purge of 4207, but the regime survived for nearly six Terran decades, until its final defeat by the StarGirl-Amazon alliance in 4261.
