Description


The battleship USS Texas (BB35 - the last of the World War I "dreadnoughts") in Todd Shipyard's drydock at Galveston-1989. She was in for hull repairs and other renovations after being moored in Gulf Coast weather for 40 years at the San Jacinto Battlefield east of Houston. She went back to her berth in 1990.

Thanks, friends. She's a grand lady, and if you are ever in East Texas, stop by and go aboard. It don't cost much and it helps keep her ship-shape. I'll post a pic of her in her berth tomorrow.

Wow... Excellent shot of a historic vessel - I believe she served with the British Grand Fleet in the North Sea during WW1... she may be one of the last surviving WW1 Dreadnoughts. Thanks for this excellent image! SMM
